Artist Illustrator Cartoonist
Born in Vancouver and raised in a then rural Richmond, BC, Anita was encouraged from an early age to develop her artistic talents.
She attended the Fine Arts Program at the Emily Carr College of Art and received a Degree in Design from Kwantlen College. After working as a commercial artist and designer for ten years, Anita returned to painting, teaching art and freelance work.
Anita's award winning artwork is enjoyed and collected internationally. Working in a variety of mediums her fine art is recognized by it’s lushness of colour and bold sense of drama. Subjects for her art are varied but her love of horses, nature and the western life remain a favourite for her paintings and drawings. Her work has been featured on the official posters of the Williams Lake Stampede and the Kamloops Cowboy Festival. Anita’s cartoons have been recognized by the Academy of Western Artists and awarded the 2015 Cartoonist of the Year Award, presented in Fort Worth, Texas.
Published internationally by Leanin’ Tree, her cartoons are featured on their popular greeting cards and merchandise. She is a member and past president of Cowboy Cartoonists International and an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Anita now works from her studio in Cloverdale, British Columbia where she is focused on her fine art, cartoon and illustration work.
